it is a completly stupid idea for new drives most bundled sata cables now come with a small metal tab ontop which locks into the drive and when you press down it realeses, this allows you to use the sata power too dont know what WD were thinking tbh
 
those are the connectors i am on about but tbh if you are playing about in your system and knock the hdd the sata connector is coing to break off no matter what cable is in there if anything it might be worth using standard connectors so that they just fall out when they get knocked about as to not damage the hdd
