That's not bad at all and their current rate is pretty good without any tie ins. I'm using a fair bit as i'm a "dirty miner" so may be moving over to them shortly.

I looked at a few of the independent review sites and they were middling at around 3.5/5 so your comments don't surprise me.
Ultimately, I need the cheapest supplier and at the moment, CS is a secondary concern.
Does it let you increase and decrease the DD? I was with ExtraEnergy before and they would let me change the DD amount online....but only if I wanted to increase the payment.
Ignoring how Corbyn and his team would be a complete disaster in power...
He can't do anything because it's stupidly all been privatized and it would take far more than 4 years to undo it all.

The cost of production is as low as it has ever been. The cost of electricity is so high because of fuel cost and green policies. The cost of renewables adds significantly, but that’s not all you have a carbon floor price and the energy industry has been used for stealth tax for the last 15 years. Wholesale generators are not making good returns at all. The manpower and maintenance spends are far below sustainable levels.
Compared to 15 years ago wholesale generation is a mugs game which is why Eon has divested all their generation assets across Europe. The only ones making money are farming subsidies and we are paying for it. The recent capacity markets have been a farce.
At this point nationalisation would be welcomed in some quarters because it would stop the industry from being apolitical and media punchbag.

On that point, Oil is the same price now as it was at the end of 2014, gas too. I wasn't paying this much 4 years ago !

Depends what the price is when it’s required for generation. In the winter gas stations turn off every night because gas is so expensive. Only 4 to 8 hours in the day can they generate at slim profit.
During the beast from the east the grid were ringing round to see if they could turn gas stations off because the supply was that slim, prices were sky high.

I like how we are constantly told to save energy and buy energy efficient products and yet whenever we reduce our consumption they just seem to stick the damn price up.
I really don't get the point of the consumer end of energy companies / sellers. They don't really do anything and just stick their margin on the wholesale prices.
It all comes from the same grid so it should all be the same price.

Except there is vertical integration and they have different numbers of customers and different regulatory requirements. So Centrica has so many customers it can’t hedge its gas position as the market is large enough. Small retailers don’t have to contribute to solar funding schemes or other green levies. Different generating portfolios mean different companies are exposed to different wholesale price moves and regulatory challenges. There is no one price. Even at the retail end some are more efficient back office operations than others affecting the costs.
I used to think like that until I went with Together. Customer service is now number 1.
The hassle a supplier can cause is huge if they get things wrong.
I was paying for the same energy twice they screwed up the opening readings, they didn't answer calls or emails. They then would reply when I wanted to leave, I initiated a switch to Bulb and they wouldn't take the final readings so carried on billing me even after I was already switched to Bulb.
Took ages to sort out with the help of the energy ombudsman.
Yeah so be careful about just looking at the price.

Nationalise it, smart meters to record usage so no real need for big customer service / marketing teams.
It's not like one type of energy is better for my TV than another. Have one national supplier and get rid of all the pointless overheads.
It let me decrease it.
But bear in mind I had a credit of nearly £200.
On joining I was on dual fuel, small flat, £45pm.
Dropped it to £20 to work off the credit.
We have the same companies setting the wholesale price and selling it to us as suppliers, they make record profits every year yet complain about costs. Politicians look the other way (probably because many of them have a stake in it).
It's a cartel basically.
