The whole lot after installing Windows, including IE etc.

I suppose if you wanted a true install size (independant of what's running), you could boot a Linux CD of your choice and take a peek.

i'd imagine the final version won't take quite as much room?

anyhoo, i don't think disk space is that of a concern in this day and age.....

would be intrested in how to reduce this if anyone has any thoughts.

How did you do that? I haven't tried Nlite though.

Not surprised at some having more than 2GB and I'm sure that there are a lot of Windows Updates uninstaller folders sitting there so use CCleaner to clear out all the uninstaller folders you don't need.

winxp can be installed on an 1.2gb drive with room to spare. all depends on the swap file and everythign else like patches ect

Right, I built a new machine today- clean windows install, SP2 and bang up to date and it's sitting there at 2.22GB

Use NLite to remove all the useless junk off XP, do the uxtheme patch, Intergrate latest updates and drivers.

After installing, use XPLite to remove trim it down more.
