The standard response here, is what sound card are you using? You'll probably get a much better sound by upgrading your sound card or at least, connecting it via a digital connect (if your amp supports digital in).

I would definitely buy a DAC if your main source is the PC. Its a shame that you dont use your CD player, but I would keep it anyway.
