when you installed iTunes, YOU told it to manage your itunes music folder for you.

Importing an album: either put the CD in and click ok when it asks if you want to rip it

or

hit file then "add folder to library"

Also, is it possible to just add one album to WMP11? Because as far as I can work out, it has to re-scan all 40GB of my music to pick up 10files.

Anapod Explorer is a great alternative.

Edit > Preferences > Advanced > General

The options to do what you want with your music files are all there

I still get annoyed with how iTunes handles compilation CDs though so I'm just leaving them off it completely. Other than that, I've had no problems with it.

What's so bad about it? The compilation tickbox combined with the new "album artist" field gives me pretty much everything I could want when it comes to compilations.

Same here and the store is great, put in your credit card details once and you can securely buy when ever you want without login screens.

The "album artist" field is blank for the majority of my albums (around 100). So unless there is a way to fill it all in automatically which I overlooked, it's going to be staying that way

I found making playlists made it a bit easier in iTunes, but not ideal as I still have to create or update a playlist every time I add an album.

I agree itunes is pap, just went to create an account to get album art and you have to put payment details in!!

but i dont want apple to have my credit card number :rolleyes:

Its hardly like Apple are gonna max out your CC is it. Admittedly i'd proabaly feel the same but I use iTunes music store so I had no choice but to let them have my account details.

If you don't want to though there are good 3rd party programs that scan your iTunes libary and then returns a page with the album covers for them all and you simply drag and drop them into iTunes

If the software was decent enough to work with other media files out of the box it wouldn't need to mess around with a users files.

I can't stand iTunes.

Me too.

A tip for iTunes users, create your OWN folder and call it 'iTunes' and have all your music in there (Artist folder -> Album folder). So, copy the music to there, then go to 'File -> Add New Folder'.

Mine has never failed me. Well, only once when i accidently ticked the 'Artists' box on my entire music database...
