You can't make it behave like the quick launch bar in Vista/XP.

The only thing that you can change is to set the opened programs to not have the text label.

right mouse click the menu bar and click properties, under task buttons change it to always combine hide labels

This is how it should look, which makes quick launch a waste of space

Pff, why would you go back to the old, cluttered way of doing it? The new superbar - a giant quick launch bar - is fantastic. Perhaps you should give it a try before attempting to ruin it? :p

Because I want to click an icon and have it open a program.
And the icons suck - so I need the text to tell what it is.
And I've also turned off those annoying popup thumbnail things. I use text to at-a-glance tell browser windows apart.
Plus I don't want junk on my taskbar when I'm not using it - that's what the Start Menu is for, and I have things pinned there.

Default superbar is arse in almost every way :/
