Sainsburys I used to work at switched off all fridge lights and the majority of other lighting and this was 10+ years ago. Even after it went 24hr a lot were still turned off.

The shop I work in turns all lights except the front windows off at night. It's creepy going in there first and turning them on and watching them slowly heat up to full brightness.

Our local tescos does the same, their big overhead lights are in dull mode at night, and the freezer lights are switched mainly to off also.

Can't store all that energy that the power plants make overnight, gotta do something with it I guess..
