Whats wrong with that PSU? I only have a budget of £50 for the PSU im afraid!

Core 2 Extreme 6200 2.93ghz
2gb Corsair 8500 1066mhz ram
8800GTX

Poor internals, probably not maintain correct voltages under load which can course crashes and instability and when fails take your system with it.

And the other question i raised, would it matter that it has 8 pin motherboard connector?

All new PSU will come with 8 pin.

But you will be ok, unless you want todo some extreme overclocking.

You be lucky to pull 300w at full load.

Calculators exaggerate and they idealise your using generic power supplies

Unless you're overclocking immensely then the 450w looks fine.

Hmm having a few problems after installing it.

I press the button to turn the PC on - it spins up for a few seconds and then goes off. Tried disconnecting everything possible and removing the bios battery and no success.

Any ideas?

sounds like gigabayte loop of death.... dont think it affects mobos that old thouhg.

Im not that bad Yes both are connected!

Try with a single memory module and try doing the CMOS reset with the onboard jumper, the manual will show the location of the pins to short
