Minecraft is good for kids.

Lego games have local MP. They have a new one in Beta stages on steam called Lego Worlds, it's like Minecraft but with Lego.

I've played through Trine 1 & 2 with my boy (aged 4/5). Took about 3 or 4 months for each of them, as we don't play often, but he loved it.

Also tried Sonic Racing Transformed, which he thought was ok, scribblenauts, which is sort of educational for him with the spelling, and even tried Gauntlet - which went ok, but he got a bit scared when being chased by Death, so we stopped.

I've been considering trying a Lego game, though he's not familiar with any of the source material for them, or Rayman legends.

My 5 year old and 3 year old love the Flatout series and Next Car Game. We play it over the LAN. You can't go wrong with cars going bang crash wallop.

My 8 year old loves minecraft on PC and Xbox. I dont mind him playing it as he does build some really cool houses and stuff for his animals.
I'd love to see Splatoon on PC, he loves it on his Wii-U and I rather enjoy it too if I'm honest lol.

Obvious choice, Minecraft.
Also another vote for Rocket League as well. Games are quick, can play against easy AI to begin with.

Minecraft
Trove (simple free to play MMORPG,). Make sure he can't buy stuff from the cash shop =D
Rocket league
Lego games (lots of entertaining quotes/references for adults.)

Another vote for Rocket League. Little more pricey on Steam but the amount of fun you will have, you'll forget about playing other games together.

Otherwise, go with Trine and the Lego Games.

No. No video games at that age, make them go outside and play football.

Did you never game at that age? Also what if it's raining?
