Haven't played the original but the second one (Pandora Tomorrow) is good, doesn't look too dated. I personally thought Doube Agent was a massive let-down after Chaos Theory, though.

sc:ct is a truly superb game have the boxed version somewhere, thing is i'll gladly purchase through Steam for it again but will it work on Vista ?

**ah its not chaos theory :( **

** edit 2 ** will Double agent work on vista 64 bit ?

Splinter cell the original i thought was a great game. Double agent i just though they made it too complicated. I think this about most sequals.

Ive only played the original Splinter Cell and then the second one Pandora Tomorrow. Both of which are upstairs in a box somewhere. I loved both games but for me i found the original a lot of fun, and also had a blast on multiplayer on the second one.

Though i have no idea if there is still a community or anyone still playing.

But yeah, fun game. :)

The first Splinter Cell is great but Double Agent is pure bugridden muck which is a shame considering how great it's predecessors were.

Ubisoft completely abandonned the game and if you care to look at their forums you'll find them riddled (assuming ubisoft hasn't culled the negative posts) with people complaining about massive game stopping bugs.

I know some people managed to play this game and, amazingly, even enjoyed it, but for me it was complete torment which I abandonned following yet another game-stopping bug near the end after which I binned it. I did try to like this game and used every workaround availiable for each bug encountered but the last literally was the last straw.

In terms of performance and stability Double Agent was probably my most horrendous PC gaming experience ever - I wouldnt wish it on anyone. I eventually gave up and went for the 360 version. Once I was able to actually play through, it wasnt that bad a game but not a patch on Chaos Theory. CT was much darker - my kind of stealth game. I didnt like the changes they made to the stealth system either, and the rate at which you were literally forced to progress, what with those silly timed sub-missions and whatnot. I did like the whole 'double agent' theme and that trust system though, forcing you to make moral choices etc...kinda neat.

I played it when it came out and had NO problems.

I finally got it on Steam, it's not working with windows7, it just crashes after a long wait time.

Gotta say I do like this game a lot more than I remember liking it when it came out, mainly because it had bad performance on my older GFX card!

I am playing it 1920x1200 with max settings in next gen mode 4xAA and it doesn't drop below 60fps making it a way more enjoyable game - I also really like the music, reminds me of Bourne!

The graphics are also pretty.

I dislike the weapons select UI as it's not logical but it will have to do.

For a fiver, it's several hours of intense stealthyness.

What a load of utter carp ... can't believe I blew 5 quid on this piece of turd.

Firstly there's no support for my resolution (1680x1050) and the only widescreen res available is 1280x720 (yes I know about the ini method, but still). It claims to have a "16:10 mode", but unless my maths is wrong, 1280x960 is not a 16:10 resolution.

The game itself is pathetic and an insult to Chaos Theory; seems like the underlying graphics engine, textures, models and animations have been ripped straight from CT and dressed up in new and pointlessly different user interface. Also, I get no AA for reasons I've simply given up finding out about and there seems to a whole lot of sound effects missing.

How the hell Ubisoft go from something as suberbly developed as CT to this pool of vomit, god only knows.

Avoid at all costs.
