On the one hand yay more films. On the other it's going to mean a lot of material not written by Tolkien....that could be a cause for concern. As long as it's good stuff (like say the Wargs on the way to Helm's Deep) and not the bad stuff (like the moronic Aragorn falling off the cliff at the end of the Warg fight and will he/won't he die crappy dream sequence) then I'm happy.

Not impressed by the news. I didn't even want there to be two films made. The decision stinks of a money grabbing move. To see the entire Hobbit story in cinema would cost me well over £20 and would be a very fragmented experience.

It seems like this (splitting books into multiple films) is the current trend in cinema and I do not support it.

Not sure what I think about the news on 3 films....

In any case, I'm going to have to start stocking up on redbull. The 24hour 6 film marathon will be a killer.

Not going to bother seeing it at the cinema. I dont want to watch The Hobbit over three years. LOTR yes, 3 books, 3 clear cuts. the Hobbit? Not on your life. Ill wait for the DVD.

Im very happy its three films, i have faith in Peter Jackson. I probably wont get so hyped as i did with the lord of the rings and i doubt it will top lord of the rings it but ill still love it to bits.

LOTR is hardly 3 clear cuts, it's one book split into 3 essentially. He changed where the cuts were in the films anyway!

I agree, but are you suggesting that The Hobbit makes more sense cut into 3?

If it means they have enough screen time then yes, they're doing much more than just the hobbit. They're doing the battle for Dol Goldur, all the White Council stuff and who knows what else.

I meant more sense cut into 3 than LOTR. I am of course well aware of More Time = More Detail.

Well I couldn't judge until I know how they're going to do it :p

LOTR is hardly the must natural cut, it really is one story just sliced into three. I don't see why they can't do the same with the Hobbit extended (as I imagine they're going to much further than where the book ends).
