1650: The BBC's Jonathan Head reports from Cairo that the Arab League's apparent second thoughts about supporting a no-fly zone look like a worrying crack in the coalition. Public opinion in Egypt, while very sympathetic to the Libyan opposition, is suspicious of Western involvement, so without the Arab League's endorsement the no-fly zone will lose its legitimacy in this region, he adds.

erm, bit late to be having second thoughts lads.

Need moar UAE jetzzzzzz:p

Stupid Arabs, let's endorse the NFZ then condemn it after the fact. They are weak, fragmented and indecisive as always.

Well plus the fact that half of them are not a lot better themselves. The only main diff is that they aren't actually shooting their own citizens AT THE MOMENT.
I mean just look at the main members of this "league", its the sort of place you would expect to have found Saddam sitting at.

The league wanted us to wave a magic wand, stop Gadaffi without actually hitting anything, fly around in a "hot zone" and just hope none of our planes got shot down.

I just hope they haven't got italian genes and will switch sides half way through ;)

I am not suprised at all.

Here we go, sticking our oar in where we shouldn't all over again.

Firing cruise missiles out of subs?

While sacking people on the front line in Iraq?

Can we get anymore sickening selective 'justice' on so many levels if we tried?

Nah, because they will have things like the longrange drop tanks fitted :)

I really want to know how much gear it takes to support an aircraft in a foreign base, i have some idea but don't know 100%.

Thing is man power costs a huge amount and we are trying to cut costs and missions. UN has sanctioned this. Cruise missiles although expensive are a fixed cost and not a yearly burden. everyone can list a whole list of pros and cons, but at the end of the day government has decided to cut expenditure.
