Of course.

First of all, I don't know who he is killing - and I'm not going to automatically take the word of the Western governments and media for it because they have an appalling track record of mistakes or downright lies and disinformation.

Secondly, if his forces are fighting and killing rebel forces, why is this automatically bad or wrong. Gadaffi is the legitimate leader of the country, he has been for 40 years and he still is under international law. Is he not entitled to put down a coup attempt? I believe he is fully entitled.

Saddam Hussein was leader of Iraq for a few years too:p

No it's not a good finance position but we are far from bankrupt.

A sovereign nation can technically never be bankrupt because you can print money, but the value of the money might not be anything by that point. So while we are not bankrupt, we are in a terrible hole. But that is for another thread I think.

Yes and we illegally ousted and then murdered him. Morally and legally reprehensible but I guess when you are the biggest bully in the playground, you don't have to follow the rules which you insist other countries do have to follow! :)

Are you for real? This guy just lied to every country in the world about upholding a ceasefire.

He has every right to try to take back his country in the exact same way the UN has every right to legally decide his actions are wrong and take forceful measures to stop him.

Did he? So it seems from reports, let's see if they are accurate. But you could argue that he has the legal right to defend against rebel attacks. I don't suppose that rebel jet was on a pleasure flight?

The UN is a farce, it is just an extension of the US state department to act as a rubber stamp to give a fig leaf of legitimacy to enact US foreign policy. And even when that fails, the US does what it wants anyway - see Iraq.

something is very wrong people. they keep saying that gaddafi broke the ceasefire and that pro-gaddafi forces are surrounding benghazi but i dont see any evidence of this :o

Do the people of Libya get to vote who they want in power?

many other countries dont and they arent trargeted.. a lot of them have mass protests to.

whos our leader again? elected by a narow margin ? so lets take up arms and march on downing strete maybe we can get a few tanks and see if the US helps us?

its ridiculous a no fly zone is turning into an excuse to bomb all of gaddafis tanks so the rebels win, the rebels even flew a plane so it would look like gaddafi was still bombing with planes...

yea exactly the type of corupt scum bag terorists libya wants in power

Last time i checked no-one has come round my house telling me i must support him, stand out in the street and wave his picture about.

Last time i checked no tanks or troops stop me from going out, threaten to shoot me for speaking freely.

Last time i checked i have a vote.

Bad bad comparison you have selected.

The reason i'm pushing this point is unless you have a vote, which isn't manipulated then how can you overthrow a dictatorship, it's very hard without outside help, it would see they want a country free of the current leader.

So who, in your opinion Dirtydog would be in a legitimate position to decide a dictator or country is breaking international law and action should be taken?

It's very hard to overthrow LibLabCon or DemRep without outside help as well. We don't have democracy any more than they do - you just think we do.

Oh come on, you can't be serious; you say I’m naive; you have come across as a serial tinfoil hat wearer.

You will say the media is state controlled next.

I've been all over the world with my job, in countyrs with all different cultures you have no idea how good we've got it.

We do. You can vote. You can vote for whomever you like. Despite what you think the BNP is not a viable alternative or even one to be taken remotely seriously and when people vote, the results reflect this by them going nowhere.

The main parties that have long established their ability to provide reasonable political and economic stability in peoples lives are quite rightly getting the majority of the votes from people who wish to maintain that. Just because there is no worthwhile opposition being fielded isn't a failing of our democracy.

You say that as though it's indisputable fact :|.
It is :)

The invasion was illegal? Based on what? Do you reject all of the arguments outlined in the attorney general's advice? If so, why?
It would take too long to go into all that here and you probably still wouldn't be convinced anyway. I watched a film recently which you might find enlightening if you actually think that Iraq was a legal invasion: http://www.bbc5.tv/eyeplayer/video/war-you-dont-see

It was the Iraqis who executed him, for various crimes (including the shelling of the Kurds), no?
Yes, Iraqis hostile to Saddam and who we allowed to assume power, executed him. Even though Britain is supposed to be opposed to the death penalty as a matter of national policy, Blair was happy to go along with it but that man always did serve Washington and not the British people.

Just to add re the kurds, you might find this interesting. http://www.nytimes.com/2003/01/31/opinion/a-war-crime-or-an-act-of-war.html
