Deleting files from usb key now goes to Desktop bin ?....

JUst noticed when I delete files from my new usb key they appear in the bin on my desktop ???. Deleting from my old key they just vanished as expected.

What's the score here ?, don;t want to empty the desktop bin every time i delete from the key !
 
Only reason windows would be doing that is if it thinks the USB drive is a fixed disk, you can override files going to the bin by going into the properties for it (the recycle bin), selecting the relevant drive and setting the don't move files to recycle bin.

You could fiddle around and flip the RMB bit (Removable Media Bit) but that's a bit risky.

Thanks !, will try when needed again as the SanDisk Extreme Pro has just died after only a few days use. Back to my old Corsair Flash Voyager GT usb3.0 and I don't have the same issue with this one !
 
I noticed this too a few months back deleting Steam games from an external HDD I only ever plug in to copy data over or delete.

Luckily I had at least 50GB left on my SSD C drive, but also noticed the games going from the external HDD being saved in Recycle Bin on my main C drive SSD. Luckily I noticed in time as had 20 or so games to delete.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I remember Windows 7 and earlier versions of 10 didn't do that for external drives in the past, it would just delete them straight off.
 
If you eject it, deleted files magically disappear from desktop recycle bin
When deleted, files are not moved to desktop, they are in a hidden directory on usb stick. Windows makes an aggregation of all such hidden recycle directories and presents them in one bin.
