Delidded 7700K 4.9 from OCUK - issues

We are working very hard to improve this now. Did u buy one?? U have a lot to say.

We literally sold hundreds of the 5G and 4.9 bin. Percentage overall RMA is low although anything is too much. We recognize this and are acting with robust retesting after delid now in place.

No I didn't buy one.

Good to hear that robust testing is now taking place. Hopefully packaging has also been improved.

I'd say that was reasonable for 5ghz. though I'd personally not run it long term if you do any folding that going to maintain 85C at 1.4v for long periods
Your 4.9 figures are absolutely fine imo for long term use.

I think my main issue is the 16C imbalance in core temps and the instability even at 4.9 with 1.41v. I suspect the delidding didn't go perfectly and is causing it.

So long as it's not throttling who cares really. This forum so hung up on Temps nonsense always is it running is it stable for your uses. U have warranty run!!!

The hottest 7700K are always the best clockers. I tested several hundred and it's always this way.

I'd imagine they are concerned because they've paid for a delid for the explicit reason of lower running temperatures.

It's 19C in my house here but as mentioned, I'm moving to 30C+ Spain so I'd prefer less heat issues :)

Final testing

MemTest ok after 5 hours running XMP at 1.35v - I could run overnight, but I think the RAM is ok.

Manually set 1.39v vCore at 4.9 ghz with VCCIO/SA as per OCUK page

RealBench crashes - I assume the AVX is tippng it over the edge.
Prime95 FFT runs ok but now getting 20C delta between core 0/2 and 1/3

I think there might be a TIM issue - will RMA on Monday.

Temps and voltage wouldnt bother me at all, on a retail sample. With these id expect them to be the cream of the crop!

I think they care because this is listed on the product page "CPUs delidded by OcUK professionals with Liquid Metal replacing original Intel TIM for 15c-30c cooler running temperatures"

Interesting...

Did a 5ghz OC for a mate on a normal Retail unit... Its running hot but rock solid at 5ghz (240 AIO for cooling)

Maybe he has a beauty :D

I'm happy with my 5.1ghz pre-binned just received from overclockers.co.uk. Picture is from camera as I have not set anything up yet unfortunately. The second CPU-Z is meant to be showing Ram speed, which is 4000 mhz CL19

Final update - sent the CPu back and this is the replacement CPU:

Looks like the delid TIM was off on the other one. OCUK customer service win with a fast RMA
