I'm looking for a job and heard from various people pizza delivery isn't generally too bad. My local Domino's is looking for people so thought I might apply there at some point. Just wondering if anyone's had that job and could tell me about pay and things. Do you get money for petrol?

You may as well just go for it, you will proberly get dead and busy nights. As long as you know your way around your area you should be fine. Another job might not come around for a while

Applying for the job shouldnt be a problem, what you need to be aware is that chavs tend to attack pizza deliveries and steal the pizza, also when you go and make deliveryon council estate be careful too as your bike can be taken for a joy ride. All of this event happens around my area frequently and hence the pizza hut shop refuse to deliver anymore. :(

Somebody I know does it. It ruins your car (High town mileage wear and tear is the worst you can get - 10 miles in town can be equivilent to 100 or more miles on the Motorway), the pay is rubbish (£5.something an hour) and the expenses you get suck - 80p a delivery they get, regardless of where it is.

Seriously, don't bother unless they provide the fuel and the vehicle. It'll end up costing you almost as much as you earn.

I love driving, if it was worth doing I'd be doing it myself :)

Rather sexy guy from Dominos delivered my E-Pizza tonight. My friend is a manager in one of our local dominos it seems like an alright job.

well i love pizza, and i always treat the delivery guys well, i always tip them. and i imagine 9/10 people would be just as nice. so i can imagine that it would be quite pleasant in all honesty.

then again... working fro a franchise is never fun... so an independant pizza company may be better ?

Im sure you would need buisness car insurance as well

This can actually be a real NIGHTMARE.

Most of the pizza places actually provide you with third party only cover whilst you are working for them.. but you've still got to tell the insurer your occupation is pizza delivery even if you dont want cover for it and almost all will refuse to cover you, or charge a grossly exagerated premium.

Most people I know that do it simply lie to their insurers. Yea, clever.

Seriously, miles more hassle than its worth.

I used to this. It sucked big time.

If you use your own car, you generally get an hourly wage, plus commission for each delivery that pays for your fuel. As someone else mentioned, it seriously degrades your car. Lots of town driving.

Also, you are always the one the customer has a go at for the late/cold pizzas!!

Also a pain in the arse trying to park your car all the time, especially as the employer probably won't pay any parking tickets.

Tips can be quite good though.

You can also take your mates in the car with you, so you can have a laugh all night.

It's pretty poo job, but can be a laugh.

I did it too.

Don't bother, it sucks.

£5.50 p/h + 75p delivery. Not worth it in all honestly. Basically all the money you earn from the job goes towards the car!

My local is a turkish joint, they use to get turkish guys to deliver and it took them ages to find my house, sometimes ending up in the wrong street, ringing me saying "your not in"

They ended up getting an english guy.

I wouldnt mind doing it, but you will end up racing chavs all night.

I did it for a summer and it beats shop work hands down. It was in my own car and in the evenings the roads are pretty empty so there's not a lot of stop start driving.

The pay was decent enough, £5/hour flat rate which was better than other jobs I'd had. 80p per delivery (10p extra for having the sign on top) more than covered the petrol and the rest went into a kitty which was never needed for repairs. Tips where pretty decent too, over the course of the evening it worked out at about 50p tip per delivery.

It was a fun job as long as you knew your way around town and didn't worry about rushing.

I was in a P reg Fiesta two years ago and it didn't seem to do much harm to the car, it has been sold now though. Probably wouldn't reccomend the job if you geek out over the well being of your car.

Ive been doing deliveries for a local indian take away, and the pay can be very good at times.

I dont get paid an hour, They give me 20 quid to cover my petrol costs then i get paid per delivery i do from 1.20 Locally to 5 quid tops for further away areas. On top of that is my tips,

Sometimes on a buisy weekend night i can make around £100, but the wear and tear on my car is extensive, I do find myself going through a lot more pads, disks tyres and such and i can average 100 miles a day.
