i just tried doing this but i dont know how to get a star into my messages :(

Not knowing your phone, but usually it is the bottom left button, should have a Star on it and perhaps a "+" try holding that button in for a few seconds?

Like I said, all mobiles are different. Try holding a few buttons down and see what happens

yeah it is there but the function for holding that key is to change the texting type (predictive/regular/numbers etc). just pressing it once does nothing :(

i forgot about the delivery report charges the first month i went back to an orange contract boy did the extra 7 odd quid scare me when i got my bill through

I believe it is.

*0# (star, zero, hash, space) before the text message you send and it will return a report and there is no charge.

Just did a google and found it!

You sir are a star :D, thank you.

try adding the * or the # as symbols as you would add any other symbol not readily available on the keypad.

You have, although the way you phrase it isn't very good, as with a contract the company gets a certain amount of money for providing XYZ service/minutes/texts, which is a much cheaper rate than PAYG...

If I can add to that point...

If it was the case that 1p per delivery report for Pay Monthly makes a significant difference to your monthly costs compared to PAYG, you will almost always be better served by a Pay Monthly package anyway which will cost less overall (for example, the Unlimited bundles).

(Of course, this is comparing just Orange PAYG with Orange Pay Monthly)
