Dell 2407

i dont mean to be nasty here, but there are countless threads on the Dell 2407WFP in here discussing all issues.

No. There have been no major issues since the A02.

My A02 revision has some minor banding, it was only noticed in passing and does not bother me even though I know it is there. There are very few real instances where it might bother you during normal use or during playback of movies.

If you spend millions of hours, in photoshop it might or might not bother you. The A03 revision should be better than the A02 anyway.

All said and done, the 2407 was the best money I have spent on my PC.

Iv got the A03 revision, it has no banding, my friend who's a professional web developer and photoshop user by trade has looked at it and has said he now wants it for his work, so must be good.

I can tell you its awesome for games and my 360 :D

Also good for abit of uni work, lol

I'm still very much in two minds with regards to getting this monitor or the Benq241W ... The more I think about it the more I'm starting to lean towards this monitor, the HDMI is nice on the Benq... but the only real benefit about it is that it allows it to show the 1080p.
Anyone able to offer any re-assurance in my decision to lean towards the dell rather than the benq?

The Dell can do 1080p. but it stretches it vertically, personally when I was playing in 1080p on my mates xbox on this screen I didn't see any problems whatsoever with it stretching, still looked very nice.

PRICE

and it is an amazing monitor... click my sig to see a pic of mine :)

Gibbo,

This is a noob question but do you think my ancient Geforce 6800 be able to display display at 1680 x 1050 (WSXGA) or incase a dell 2407 at 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA+). The Max Resolution (external) of the gfx card is 2048 x 1536 / 85 Hz though the supported resolutions are: VGA (640x480), XGA (1024x768), SVGA (800x600), SXGA (1280x1024), UXGA (1600x1200), HDTV (1920x1080), QXGA (2048x1536), 1152x864, 1920x1200, 1920x1440

Now I am not sure if I will have problems, I do need an upgrade but I thought CS 1.6 would be OK for now and I would later have an upgrade to 8800 GTX and a new processor in Q107.

You won't have any problems with that card...as long as you have a decent set of drivers and possibly the monitor driver (or manually add the resolution).

I'm very happy with mine - no dead pixels, cracking picture and fantastic for games...

....only "down" side is that I bought it when it was on this week only last time/recently, and just spotted its on again at £90 less than what I paid for it.

I expected it to drop a little, but not that much in three weeks/less that a month. Ahh well.

I was going to create a new thread about this monitor but I might as well post my questions here. I'm mainly wondering about using resolutions other than 1920x1200. I know it's got 1:1 Pixel Mapping and Aspect Retention, but does the monitor lose any quality when using these? I doubt my computer will be able to handle games like F.E.A.R in 1920x1200, so how would it look in 1600x1200? Also, can the monitor display lower widescreen resolutions like 1680 x 1050?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm coming from a really good 19" CRT (IIyama Vision Master Pro 454) so I want to make sure I'm making the right choice. Anything else I should know before I take the plunge? :D

Answer for Aidoscuz

Image quality is fine using lower resolutions (assuming you dont go mad and opt for 640 by 480 or something ludicrous.

One thing to note if you use a DVI cable if you leave it to the monitor all it will do is expand the image to fill the screen (which actually isn't too bad if you're in wides screen ration - would be wierd if you're in 4:3 though) if you want to use 1:1 mapping or proportional fill you need to do it via your graphics card not the monitor. However, I see you've got a 7900GTX - I'm using a 7900GTO and it looks fine to me when viewed either way.
I vary which I choose from game to game (although I can play most in 1920 tbh).

Your mileage may vary but I wouldn't worry about it (can't comment on it's picture quality compared to your Ilyama but it's a big improvement over my old Dell 21 inch crt).
