Dell 2407

Has anyone whos bought this monitor recently noticed any banding in gaming and special modes? I have bought the NEC 20WGX2 this week but I find it small even though I upgraded from a 19 inch CRT.

banding is obvious in the other modes but is fixed in desktop mode.

anyone have any problems with the screen going really bright then going dark when watching films?

any help appreciated.

Thanks

This is exactly what I found in the NEC 20WGX2 as well. When you select the gaming and other modes u see slight banding but its not noticeable when you actually go into gaming screen. Guess I am gonna have to live with this.

Answer for Aidoscuz

Image quality is fine using lower resolutions (assuming you dont go mad and opt for 640 by 480 or something ludicrous.

One thing to note if you use a DVI cable if you leave it to the monitor all it will do is expand the image to fill the screen (which actually isn't too bad if you're in wides screen ration - would be wierd if you're in 4:3 though) if you want to use 1:1 mapping or proportional fill you need to do it via your graphics card not the monitor. However, I see you've got a 7900GTX - I'm using a 7900GTO and it looks fine to me when viewed either way.
I vary which I choose from game to game (although I can play most in 1920 tbh).

Your mileage may vary but I wouldn't worry about it (can't comment on it's picture quality compared to your Ilyama but it's a big improvement over my old Dell 21 inch crt).

Thanks for the info. I went ahead and placed an order today. Can't wait :D

Me too. I just ordered one as well. I will see if its any different from the NEC 20WGX2 in terms of color quality, banding issues.

if they do come with a driver cd would some good soul zip up the contents and host if for me if possible :)

If you're using Windows XP use the Windows update feature and it'll have a config file for the monitor (Windows will then recognise it properly).
