After getting the replacement for my previous one that had a crooked stand a loose tft panel, the new one has a dead sub pixel which manifests itself as a grey blob :(

I know their dead pixel policy is more than 5 but has anyone got theirs replaced with just 1 dead pixel?

I have one dead pixel on my screen, at least I presume it's dead and not 'stuck' as it appears to be white.

Tried contacting OCUK about it but they say the warranty is with Dell and not them (fair enough - they say this on the product description page)

Have you tried contacting Dell about it? Think I'm going to try Dell this week and see if they'll replace it for me as although it's not immediately noticeable, once you know it's there, you do look for it!

My only worry is that if a replacement were to be sent out, this could actually be worse than the one I already have as there is no guarantee that it will be dead pixel free or even worse, more dead pixels!

Still umming and ahhhing about it at the moment, only had the screen for about a week!

Just to let people know that I finally got a full refund from Dell Friday gone as I'd had 3 of these screens and I wasn't happy with any of them.

Have you tried gently massaging the dead pixel ?

A friend of mine got the screen with 3 dead/stuck pixels, but gently massaged the dead pixels with a microfibre cloth and all 3 came alive resulting in a perfect screen.

Also you could just claim banding if you wanted the monitor replaced (provided is A01 or A02 revisions, not sure what they will say about A03 revisions).

I had a stuck pixel on mine (just off from the centre). Tried all the different ways to get rid of it and none of them worked.

I tried to live with it, but my eyes were always drawn to it.

Anyway, phoned Dell, said I wasn't happy with it and specified I wanted a new, not refurbished replacement. I had a perfect monitor arrive about a week later.

:)

I tried massaging the pixel, running movies and flash videos for hours on end but none of them worked.

Thanks for all the info and advice, I'll ring Dell sometime this week to get it sorted although I prob won't be able to get a replacement now until the new year :( The backlight is ok except for a bit of bleed in the top right hand corner but I can exaggerate that to try and get a replacement if needs be!

My monitor's revision is A03 (manufactured November 2006 according to the sticker on the back) so I don't know what Dell will say as regards banding etc but I can always try it on if the backlight bleed complaint fails to impress!

I'll let you know how I get on

Same here. I have one stuck pixel that it does change colours to certain colours like red, black etc but not all. Was thinking of exchanging the monitor but the dead pixel policy doesn't allow a replacement for a single dead/stuck pixel. You cant notice it but your eyes keep looking at it from time to time in the hope of it getting fixed by itself somehow. i tried all those pixelfix programs and tbh they are bs. So I am still thinking and ... still thinking what to do... Apart from that its a good monitor for gaming and watching movies/vids etc.

What actually did you mention as not being happy? Single dead/stuck pixel complain wdnt cut it I wd have thought with the Dell guys.

I just told them I've used it for a few weeks but the stuck pixel's bothering me and I'd like a NEW replacement.

The guy said they normally don't replace them for just 1 pixel but he was surprisingly helpful and said he'd a word with someone and get back to me. Which he did a few hours later, and then arranged delivery of a new monitor and to pick up the old one about a week later.

You could always say something about a wonky stand or banding if they don't want to replace it.

Just make sure verify it's a new monitor you'll be sent as at first he was going to send a refurbished one. And you'll need the serial number on the back of your monitor when you call.

All replacements <30 days from original purchase date will be brand new monitors, only after that period will they be refurbished.

Thanks man. You have nay recommendations on how to verify if they have sent a new one and not a repackaged/refurbished one. My Dell is just a week old and I found the stuck pixel the same day but was kinda living with it. Now I just keep looking at from time to time. I'll try and see what happens. :)

Not really... I just checked it over (no marks, no dust) and had a look at the service menu (turn monitor off, hold +, turn monitor on, let go of +, press -) to see how long it had been plugged in - 0 minutes.

Same here. Bought the monitor last Monday (11th December) and have been trying to ignore this pixel but no matter how hard I try, my eyes get drawn to that side of the screen because I know it's there and it REALLY bugs me!

Will try these suggestions to get a replacement. After reading through these replies, I don't see why I should have to put up with what is a fault at the end of the day and if it means turning a mole hill into a mountain to get Dell to replace it then I will!

The vast majority of people with this monitor don't seem to have any problems at all regarding dead pixels or even the backlight which leads me to think that myself and Rezza have just been unlucky.

Exactly. You paid full price, you should get a perfect monitor.

Thx. Just to check this one, I powered it off using IO button but while holding + it doesn't power on.
... I got it working. but I think you can just fool a person by resetting the timer to 0, even if you have like 2000 hrs on the monitor. cant you?

Just called the Dell guys. Very helpful and while he asked me do some tests It was found the stand was faulty and the menu wasn't working properly in self test mode, so it wasn't just the stuck pixel. Told me they would send a brand new from factory in 1-2 weeks time and that if I have any problems they would make sure that I get the perfect monitor. Sounds good. Now lets pray that the new one is dead/stuck pixel free, has a perfect stand etc.

Nice one Rezza. What did you say to them so I know what approach to take when I ring them tonight?

Also, what number did you ring as there seems to be a few numbers to ring as regards support and technical issues?

Let's hope I have as much luck as you did ;)

Well the guy asked me what were the issues and I told em that there is a grey annoying dot and I do graphics and games work so its quite annoying. He asked me to do some tests like remove the DVI/VGA cable and see if the no DVI message was floating around, also asked me to check if the menu comes up after the DVI/VGA cable is removed and it didnt come up. On top of this I found out that the stand was a bit wobbly. And I also mentioned that in non desktop mode there is banding/uneven clours/washed out, which you know is pretty normal in A03 revisions. He said that I have three options. a: get a new (not factory direct and perhaps 2/3 month old build) one now, b: get a refurbished one now c: get a direct new build from factory in 2-3 weeks and I opted for the factory latest model, all checked for pixel/banding/stand issues. He said if I find any problems they will make sure that I get the perfect screen as I paid the full price for it So there you go. I think not being a wise guy helps. No is 0870 9080800 and then select home build and explain that its your monitor .....
