Hi People

I've been reading a bit now about the ghosting issues with the Dell 2407-HC.
Something that has also cropped up a few times when I've been reading these threads is the mention of a new fixed 2408-HC.
Has anyone actually seen any proof that this panel is going to be coming available or is this all rumor and speculation, and maybe a bit of hopeful thinking.;)

its due later this month and sadly its not quite the fixed model its a different screen with a different technology, and proberly wont compare to the 2407.

If you check my threads and the half dozen thread on 1/2 pages u will see the 2407 non hc is still the better option and safer bet...

I ended up going with the Samsung 245B 24" and aint regreted my choice if I had to do it again I would considering its my best purchase made on the new pc also.

I just got my replacement 2407 model today but it turns out they sent me a HC not a normal one...good thing is i can't see any problems with it and no ghosting, is ghosting on a problem with some? panel/model number specific?

there's a new 24" model, but it's in Dell's E range, and is TN Film based:
How did I know you'd know? :)

Looks like it's now or never to buy the WFP-HC and keep fingers crossed for the ghosting to not be too apparent. All this potential hassle for a wide gamut!

So by the looks of things there's not going to be a 2408-HC just the cheaper looking E248WFP.
It maybe ok though. See what the reviews are like when it comes out.

Do you reckon if they'll replace the 2407 with the E248WFP or will the models run side-by-side?

Seems to have been a fair bit of negative publicity about the HC variant of the 2407 and just wondering if Dell will quietly bury it.

i think it will run along side, kind of like the 2007WFP (premium model) and E207WFP (Economy) model do. There's not enough fuss / bad press about the 2407WFP-HC to warrant it's removal, not even enough to warrant a fix really, so i doubt they are too worried about it

Are we going to see all S-IPS and S-PVA screens slowly migrating to TN-Film then?

I for one don't mind paying the extra for the better panel.

i would still expect to see IPS/VA panels used in the larger sizes, but once TN Film starts to be used, it drives cost down to the point that most manufacturers dont consider it cost effective to use anything else. The majority of consumers will be happy enough with TN Film, and once cost is driven down in a sector (just look at what happened with 22" TN Film vs IPS/VA 20" models, and now in the 24" market), people soon forget about other technologies.

Received my A00 2407 HC this morning. NO dead pixels/stuck pixels (although the retailer would replace it there were!) and no ghosting, uniform blacks all around the screen! Loving the 1080p detail from the PS3. :-)

How have you connected yours?
Iam getting my Non HC version tomorow. :D

Its the safer option but I would n't say in everyones case that its the better option. I doubt many of the people who don't have any ghosting with the HC version would swap for the non-HC but its a risk buying it, thats for sure.

From what I've been reading on the net, the larger TN-Film panels suffer from poor Viewing Angles.

Can anyone confirm this in real world use?

they dont vary any more really than smaller panels in terms of their viewing angles, more that at the larger sizes they become more noticeable....there's more screen real estate, and so as you glance upwards and downwards and to the sides from a central point of view, the screen area goes on for longer. As such, the viewing angles do become more of an issue.

See my comments about viewing angles for the Samsung SM245B for instance. I'd be interested to try a 28" TN Film panel too, something i hope to do soon :)
