Dell 27" UltraSharp U2715H or Asus 27" PB278QR?

Need a new monitor soon because my current 24" monitor is on it's way out.

So after much looking around at loads of monitors, researching and comparison, I've whittled it down to the following 2 monitors:

Dell UltraSharp U2715H or Asus PB278QR.

Both 27", 2560x1440, IPS panel.

I have found places to purchase either of them, where the price difference between them is just £40. The Dell is the one that's £40 more.

The £40 difference doesn't matter to me, so which one would be the better buy? I'm leaning heavily towards the Dell U2715H at the moment.

Any help will be most appreciated, thanks in advance.

I currently own the Dell and love it mate. Colours are fantastic. Too bright out the box if anything but once turned down its decent. Colours are very vibrant and gaming on its enjoyable.

I brought from the rainforest for any customer service related issues. As its the ultra sharp range it comes with their dead pixel guarantee

Dell is fantastic. I was surprised with the quality. I almost cried when I had to sell it after a few months use but I've decided to move to ultrawide 34 inch 1440 monitor.

I cannot criticize the Asus, I can only praise the Dell. I have the 24" version and colour and quality is excellent.

Asus might be fine too - I've never used it.

I have the 27" dell and it really is superb. I've also had asus before and they have also been good for me, just find this dell better.

Having owned a Dell monitor previously and the PB278QR now, I don't believe you can go wrong with either. I picked the Asus as I got a pair of them on offer last year, but if prices are equal Dell's warranty is hard to beat.

Thanks for the replies folks, the pendulum has almost swung full way of the Dell U2715H.

However another option that's found it's way into the list is the BenQ BL3200PT - which is 32", 2560x1440, VA panel. Which is just £20 more than the Dell.

Again, this £20 does not make a difference to me.

I was thinking, the Dell 27" has the IPS panel and the amazing colours...... but the larger 32" screen of the BenQ does sounds very nice indeed.

So between the BenQ 32" and Dell 27", I was wondering which would be the better buy in this case?

The Dell does have good reviews. Unfortunately it's now obsolete, and the OCUK price has jumped to £449.99 :( I noticed the stock has been sitting at 9 for a while now.

It was on special at one point, possibly Christmas for £350. I was overseas at the time and thought I'd pick one up next time they drop, likely Easter, but it wasn't on special at Easter.

It's been replaced by the U2717D but unfortunately the TFT Central review is reporting a lot of input lag so not so good for gaming. Also seen a report on HardOCP forums of someone with an early model which had a lot of vignetting.

What do you actually plan to do with it? I had the BenQ BL3200PT, absolutely fantastic monitor all around, gifted it away in the end. I think for colour critical work you'd probably be better off with the Dell, but otherwise I'd say the BenQ edges it. Don't underestimate how massive 32'' is btw, it's gonna take a lot of getting used to & plenty of desk space!

25" Dell, it's better than the 27" model. No scaling needed.

I don't understand? I thought the resolution (2560x1440) would be native on the 27" as well? Unless you mean pixel density or something?

I plan to be an all-rounder with it, such as:

- watch HD videos
- some minor graphical work
- moderate gaming (input lag not that important, but low lag would be good)
- reading a lot of text (forums, Twitter, emails, etc.)

And yes I realize the 32" is a big monitor, I have a 100cm x 50cm desk so it should be fine! I might be sitting a bit too close though?
