Dell 27"

I wonder how much of the sharpness you would loose compared to the 2405/7 by adding those 3 extra inches?

Personally I would love for someone to bring out 20-22" 1920x1200 and 24-26" 2560x1600 screens.

3000:1 contrast ratio? So Dell are toying with dynamic contrast? That could be a fatal mistake (unless they let you turn it off).

If it has the connectivity and scaling options of the 2405 then it should be a bedroom favourite.

I think that any smaller than 0.25mm is verging on excessive for desktop use...I wouldn't want more than 2560x1600 on my 30".

Plenty of 17" laptop screens are 1920x1200. High DPI is cool. :)

Mine is 1920x1200 and it's a 15" :) It's still more than usable although old people can't stick it when I'm showing them software etc. on it.
I have a 2407 and imho it really should go more than 1920x1200. I would go for the 2707WFP (if that's what it's released as) if it had the higher res, but at the same res as a 24" - no thanks.

With DPI-independent graphics in all the next gen OSes (Leopard and Vista) I would definitely think about buying a high DPI screen.

Everything too small? Change the size slider and get more detail while your at it.

You can get a 37inch Westinghouse LCD at 1900x1200 and they are great screens. I think the new dell will be a great sucess.

i think 37" is overkill by a good 7"

the dell 30" is as big as i could handle, the 27" would be a nice in between... the 24" is great, but once your used to it its a tad small.

im greedy :p

Me too, although I see what you're saying about 30" being about the limit...after than you're outside monitor territory and into 'interactive wallpaper' territory.

whats the point of such a high rez on such small screens? can hardly read the text thats displayed
If you can't read text on it why not set the DPI in your window manager to match the DPI of your monitor? It's one of the first steps to take when setting up a new machine for me.
