Dell 30" ??

guess the only thing that is ****** about going for this 3007, is if i get an X360 i wont be able to use this pretty screen with it :( unless 360 can use DVI ??? or plug directly into a PC ?

Nope, PC only. :(

so im back wer i started, why is dell skimping out on the 3007, is there going to be an update? :( should i buy the the 24 then later down the line sell it and get the 3007, or whatever they call the next one... is there a better 30" on the market?

The dell is just awesome. sold my aplpe 20" and never regretted it. 2560 x 1600 is unreal for apps and games etc. Worth every penny. Got mine for a grand on a popular auction site. Had to buy another gfx card to run it..still worth it!

Cool - it says on the oc site that my card can handle the full res exactly which is cool but just dont want to buy it and then is run like crap.. also i have heard that dvd quality movies look kinda bad at that res as the image is stretched across that many more pixels...??? i suppose you could always knock it down if you wanted to watch a DVD at full screen though right?

?? i heard that watching DVD's on it was one of the strongs points?

i hope its ok. :(

there is a review on it at the top in this section.

i cant see it being a bad monitor looking at the price tag, im on the edge of buying one, just dont want it to turn up with a dead pixel in the middle of the screen :p lol

Least you can send it back till you get a good one.. id reather not do, but its happened before.

I am now using a DELL 3007WFP 30" panel. Its rated as having an 11ms grey-to-grey response time. All I can say is DVD's and Games look far superior. The colours just seem so much more vibrant and obviously the 30" size is damn big but really nice.

Now maybe I am fortunate to be using one of the best but I would certainly not go back to my CRTs as this thing is so great and even though its 30" it takes up far less space, is easier on the eyes and watching DVD's and playing games has never been so good....."

least the the DVD is good :)

i dont thinkthat botheres me (but would be nice) because i dont even play in actual res at them moment :p

unless this 30" cant do this or something ?? :S .. i heard it has no scaler, what does that actually mean?

also, it should be alright with 2x 7950's right?

problem is i heard dell dont replace the monitor just for a dead pixel, i heard that it has to be a certain amount of dead/dodgy pixels before they replace it which would suck. can you imagine forking out that much money for a monitor and getting a dead pixel and then dell saying they dont cover dead/lazy pixels in their warrenty!!!

then i guess if you get one with a dead pixel, you get the screw driver out and murder some more? :D

or just buy from OCUK, im sure they would make sure yo uhave a good one, and they are cheaper! and have a 4 instead of 3 year warenty

OUT!!!

Awwwww crap!

was gonna order mine when i got back from Oz in a week, dammit, anybody know when they coming back in?

Yeah but they are out @ the mo and i want it now now now lol

just hope my 7900gtx will run it at max res...

Depends what you are trying to run at max res

According to most reports you need at least SLI / Xfire to run any recent game at anything like max res

Why not go for the 2407 and with the saving buy the this the Hyundai VVuon Q320 32" HD Ready TV Including Freeview (MO-039-HY)

A 24" monitor would be brilliant for gaming, particularly with the other bits of hardware you are looking to buy.

Once you have both panels, You arrange the monitor to be at a desk for gaming etc. You have a S-vhs cable running from your graphics card to your other LCD that sits perched at the bottom of your bed.

You then watch all the films you want on the 32" from your PC by simply making the LCD monitor the primary monitor in your display settings.

You now have a brilliant PC set up that will running a 1920 x 1200 and with the 7950 the frames will be perfect. You have Freeview for television, You have a home cimema set up with a 32" panel for Fims and Gaming on the Xbox360.

This will fulfill all of the criteria you require!!! and they are available now!!!

Just to throw another option into the mix; if you're adamant you want to blow ~£1400 on a computer monitor, why not get two 2407WFP's instead?

Advantages

- £57.70 cheaper
- 12.5% more pixels
- A veritable bucket load of inputs (Could have one hooked up to a games console or DVD player and switch it over when you want)
- Faster stated response time
- Lower resolution makes it possible to play games at optimum resolution without blowing >£5k on hardware
- The 24" DELLs have been around for longer - fewer quality issues

Disadvantages

- You can't brag to your friends that you have a 30" monitor; although you can tell them you have two 24" monitors
