So this monitor used to be around £800 but can be had for much less these days (~£275)

22" Widescreen with 4mm Ultra-Clear Tempered Glass
WSXGA+ 1680 x 1050 resolution
TrueColor Technology with 98 percent Color Gamut (typical)
2ms typical response time (grey to grey)
HD connectivity with DVI / HDMI with HDCP, sub-woofer out, USB
2.0 megapixel webcam with microphone

I know the spec isn't up to the same levels as monitors these days but I guess it's OK and it look pretty.

Would you get one? I'm considering it purely for the way it looks. My needs with regards to monitors is very bland, i'm still using an old 21" Eizo CRT.

Any opinions welcome. FYI the max res I use is 1280x1024 for both desktop and games I have an ATI 4850 but I don't like the icons being to small!

it's overpriced for the type of display panel.
for the same price, you could get a nice 24" monitor with a 1920x1200 resolution.

coming from a CRT, you must understand that TFT's will look terrible if you run them at anything other than its native resolution.

If I was still limping along on my 17" LCD, I would have probably have got this Dell. I also liked the Asus LS221H (as wanted a glass cover), but it wasn't stocked anywhere when I needed a new monitor.

My current Dell has built in mic and web cam, which has proved better than using onboard sound chip of two different computers.

Was meaning to get a Dell Sound bar for a neat solution, but wasn't sure of the audio quality. The Crystal model covers all those bases, and looks aesthetically pleasing to me. But the tripod stand looks precarious.

If you can't tell the difference between LCD's for ghosting and input lag, etc. Then aesthetics makes a nice dilemma, but you pay a premium for it.

I often wished I bought a Hercules Prophetview monitor in an aluminium case instead of a bog standard plastic cased screen I had, as you end up staring at them for a long time.

I bet you could use that monstosity as a mirror during daylight, todays monitors are all matte for a very good reason.

Also, its a TN, an old TN with some peripherals glued into it - as you can guess i'm not a fan.

Do yourself a favour and get this (somehow), as you can see I'm not a dell hater.
