A Spanish site adds more fuel to the fire that the Dell E aka Mini Inspiron will launch next Tuesday August 12. Currently there have been reports of a Press Event on that date. And now Xataka.com stating that the Dell E will drop at the same time as U.S. release in Spain.

News on this new netbook has been a bit thin on the ground but heres hoping :) Also read this date in another article yesterday but cant seem to find the link...... I think this will be the one i go for.

Hi,

The only price so far is $299 for the base 4gb ssd model but there are also supposed to be a 8 and 16 GB SSD models that also have more RAM. We should find out more later today if the rumours are true. Think the base model has 512MB and the others 1GB running windows XP or linux with 8.9" 1024x600 res Screen. I believe the top model has Bluetooth also. The only thing that can ruin this is if they slap on the ridiculous £60 delivery fee.

Whats this? another netbook??

I dont think ill ever know which one of these to buy!

Will these actually be in stock or be like the Acer and Asus and apparently not exist

Hi,

Looks like some confusion over model naming as the new latitude is designated the latitude E which replaces the D series as well as the netbook being called the E

Looks like we will be waiting a bit longer.

It's time for more Dell E-series netbook rumors, you ready? According to DigiTimes and its industry sources, Compal Electronics is slapping together both 8.9-inch and 10-inch E-series netbooks for Dell. Previously, we've only heard mention of an 8.9-inch E and 12.1-inch E Slim. The 10-inch E is scheduled for an October product launch while the 8.9-incher was previously rumored for August. Interestingly, Dell expects the 10-incher to experience almost twice the demand of the 8.9-inch model (assuming a sole-source manufacturing deal) based on Compal's monthly production estimates of 400k-450k and 250k units, respectively. There's a Dell press event later on today where we might just bring all these Dell netbook rumors to rest. Stay tuned, as they say.

Might have spoke to soon maybe they are saving the best to last haha

Cheers,

Today was expected to be the day Dell's much anticipated UMPC, the 'Dell E', was finally announced. Instead we were treated to a new line-up of 'E-Series' Latitude PCs with marathon batteries.

Ah well still waiting. Sort it out dell!! I am finding it pretty hard to resist the Advent 4211 now.

Hmmm, I was so close to buying a Wind/Advent. Heres hoping the Dell appears soon or even that new Lenovo S10 or whatever.

I coulda told you this a while ago...

The E series models that are 8 and 10 inch will be the replacements for Dells D400 series laptops.

Incidentally, the E series Latitudes are the easiest laptops I have ever seen to take apart. It's literally the panel and the bottom you remove there you have it, all components are accessible and removable.

I hope Dell include an option for a larger Disk, I'm currently pushed between the MSI Wind clone and the Acer Aspire One.

If the Dell machine has an option for a bigger disk I'm sold.

Hi,

Biggest launch option for SSD is 16GB they are 4/8/16GB SSD's with no mechanical hard drives planned for this model at the moment.

Is this based on the specs floating around?,

I would love the green one, but looking at the specs the disk interface is mini card, so not swappable like the Aspire which used the hard disk interface for the ssd.

Still looking for one with 80Gb + and a better battery 4hrs +.
