Hi,

I'm interested in a 19" screen for around £160 tops. I don't play games, I just browse the net and watch movies on it.

I've been looking at reviews for the Dell E196FP and Samsung 920N but can't make my mind up. Is the Dell good with viewing angles (better than the 920N?)?

Some of the reviews i've read for the 920N say it has poor viewing angles, some say it is fine. Since it is so subjective do any current owners have problems or regrets?

I've currently got a very old 15" TFT which has pathetic viewing angles - stray a bit off dead centre and the screen starts to go black! When reviews say the viewing angles are poor, i'm sure they'll still be better than what I have now!

Cheers

The Dell E196FP uses an 8ms TN Film panel, as does the Samsung 920N, albeit from different panel manufacturers. Viewing angles should be quite comparable, but restricted by the sacrifices of TN Film as a technology. The technolgoy has certainly improved in the last couple of years so should offer improvement over your current 15" model. They aren't wide viewing angles (you need to look for other technologies for this, but they are more expensive) but should be fine for you watching movies on your own with the screen pointed at you
