dell e520 -core2due 6300 overheating?

Hello, i've had my e520 for like 2 months now and i recently bought a new gfx card for it, anyways i'm gettin trouble with my games, i think my cpu's are overheating, if anybody knows about the e520 then you will know what the cooling system is like, here are my temps

on idle

Cpu0 - 49
Cpu1 - 47

under full load

it shot up to 65 in about 7 seconds, i stoped the test after that incase it blew
any ideas what i can do? would this be the reason why my games dont run smooth

This is what i have

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300, 1866 MHz (7 x 267)
Motherboard Name Dell Dimension E520
DDR Memory Total 1021 MB
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic
ATI Radeon X1950 Pro
 
thats high for a standard chip but its not dangerous, iirc c2d dont throttle till 90 c

get the side off and blow/hoover it out but dont go to close to components
 
ok i'll have a go at that, u think it could be the reason why my games are julting and i'm stuck on low settings? or is it another reason? i know twh machines not the best for gaming but its all i have and cant get rid of it as it was a gift, should i not play games while seeing these temps?
 
Idle temperatures mean nothing to be honest. You'll find that temperatures in a dell are a touch higher that a custom build because they tend to use low speed fans and sometimes even a passive heatsink and a duct to a case fan.

^^ That is a program called ORTHOS. It'll do a good job at heating up your CPU by loading both cores. Watch the temperatures using Coretemp or Speedfan's Core0/Core1 readings. Run the Small FFT's test which stresses the CPU only and it'll produce an error if the CPU is unstable. If your system is overheating you'll be able to tell by looking at Coretemp or Speedfan. Don't stop the test unless something is going seriously wrong. Anything below 80*c is relatively safe. Any higher and the CPU will throttle or the unit will shut itself off.

Torture Test ran 8 minutes 4 seconds - 0 errors, 0 warnings. max temp was 69 on both cpus (small ffts 0 stress cpu)
 
did you stop it at that time then?

a proper stress test is 8hrs +

i run for 2 & 1/2 at least

thats realy realy high for 1.8ghz, when i was air cooled at 3.2ghz i never went passed 45C full load

i had a dell in my house (not mine :) ) a 8400 i couldent change the hsf becuase the mobo was a custom dell made one and it dint have the mounting for any 3rd party cooler out on the market so judging by that dell system, i dont think there is much you can do apart from complain to dell about over heating and stability issues?
 
You could check that the heatsink/fan shroud is screwed down tight. On each side of the heatsink shroud there's a captive screw. Make sure they are tightened up. Also, you could try removing the heatsink and check the thermal grease and then reseat it - unscrew the two screws and hinge the heatsink back toward the rear of the case then lift it off.

What did you use to measure that temp and what you use to load it, What VCore did you use to get 3.2, it appears a very low load temp for that speed.
Using Orthos and core temp i get load temps of 55C and thats using 1.55V and WCooling in a 20-22C room.
