Hi guys,

I am having problems with my laptop.

I have a home network just for internet use, its setup to DCHP between 192.128.0.50 and 192.168.0.75

For some unknown reason my E6400 is using an ip of 169.254.154.144 and showing limited connectivity. It is setup for auto ip etc.

any ideas?

thanks

The two are related. 169.254 etc is an autoconfiguration IP that your OS will use if it doesn't get an answer from a DHCP server (at which point it'll say it has limited/no connectivity because it won't be able to ping your router or a host on the internet).
Is it the same with a cable? Has it just started happening or have you changed something?

cable connection works perfectly, nothing changed.
Just occured suddenly.
other wireless machines having no problems.

What OS is it running? If it's some version of Windows at or above Vista, try deleting the profile and setting it up again and/or manually setting an IP/subnet mask et al.
