Hello,

About three years ago I bought a manufactures refurbished desktop, it’s a Dell OptiPlex 990, Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 16.0 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti, Crucial_CT256M550SSD1 HDD/SSD, Windows 10 Enterprise 64bit.

I’ll admit this wasn’t a fresh install, I bought the new refurbished desktop, took the Crucial SSD out of my old PC and slotted it in.

I was using Driver Booster software for a while but have stopped.

The issue is the fan seems to run at full pelt occasionally, it happens when running Windows Update, at start up/boot, when I took these photos below it was running loud and other times when multitasking.

Any advice also anything I can change from the settings below?

Sounds pretty normal to be honest. The fan will ramp up when the CPU is under load. Generally speaking, computers like this have pretty basic and poor performing heat sinks on the CPU, so that's overcome by ramping up the fan higher.

There should be a service tag on the case somewhere, pop that into the Dell support site and it will give you all the drivers and software specific to your system. It might be worth ensuring they are all installed and up to date.
