Ok so just turned on the dell computer today we bought at xmas and for some reason the picture is purple and blocky as if the colour quality was on 8bit

So we tried the dell monitor on a different pc, works fine so im guessing its the x1300 graphics card.

Anyone got any ideas? has the graphics card shot it already? its not overclocked and its using the ATI catalyst drivers so i dont understand what has caused this.

Any help would be great :)

like i say the monitor works fine on a different pc

Sounds like a bad video card. Does the card have a fan or is it passively cooled? If it has a fan check that it is running. Also, try reseating the video card in it's slot.

ok disaster avoided i think thanks GeezerButler and quantumisation. i checked the board was in fulling and installed the latest video drivers. Seems to be fine now. hope its not on its way out though!

I swear everyones computer seems to know that im about to finish my degree and am really busy so they all pick now to **** up! thats 4 family members pcs fixed in the last 2 months and 2 laptops stolen (which means i will have to install all the things those people want back on their new laptops when the insurance pays out!) -- lucky me....
