Ordered a parcel from DELL a couple of weeks ago and I missed 2 x delivery attempts as I was out on business.

No sweat, I was assured they try 3 times before it being returned to depot where I can pick it up for anything upto 5 business days it arrived there.

Well having called UPS,Lynx and Syncreon/Western something or other it appears that what the agent told me is wrong (sorry what 2 x agents told me).

I have spent the last 2 x days being assured by DELL that the order will be with me by the end of the day...still no show.

Now today, I have been told that the carrier has lost my order and I have to wait until Monday before this can be confirmed!

After that if the order is lost they will have to raise a new order which will take 2 weeks (I'm guessing 2 months given the dishonesty of these guys).

Oh and to cap it off I've been told I can't cancel the order as I ordered it as a business customer. Is this right???

There is more but I risk boring you all. Never going to get anything from them again.

You never seem to be so quick to criticise the carrier in the numerous Citilink threads, when people ARE there and waiting for their deliveries.

Citylink are absolutely dog awful where I am.

What am I supposed to say "Yeah OcUK are idiots for using them!!"?

They're the same as any other courier company, it's down to your area. Some people have absolutely no problems with them.

If you could point me to an occaision where I've made excuses for City Link then please do, I actually don't recall ever defending them.

Keep your hair on, I just found it a bit funny you are so quick to criticise the carrier in this thread when delivery was attempted TWICE but I've never heard you pipe up in the numerous Citylink threads when no delivery is attempted or even cards posted.

I appear to have hit a nerve though, so apologies.

I don't like people implying that I'm that sort of person thanks.

This case is different, they told him that they would attempt delivery 3 times before taking it back to the depot.

I'm not piping up in the slightest, the only reason I posted was due to a post implying that it was his fault.

If you intend to buy from them again, try to get yourself an Irish account manager (suggesting a monthly spend of a few k will do it). They can make your life much easier as well as giving you a substantial discount on just about anything.

Our local TNT (Slough) are awful though. They didn't try to deliver our servers because the driver "couldn't find the address" - I collected from their depot where the package was left with a stack of others on the concrete where the trucks were turning. They didn't check my ID and effectively let me take what I liked. I can't believe such a large company could be so unprofessional. I'm not surprised your parcel was lost but it's not really Dell's fault.

i hate all curier comapnies, last week i order some books from ...... (competitor i think), some coureir HTLM or something like that said i refused delivery WHAT !!!, i emailed the shop that it was a lie as i was home all day that day and they sent my books again by RM and got everything the next day,

Once their delivery firm picks it up in Ireland it is pretty much out of Dells hands, granted bit of a pain you misses the deliveries, but even RM, PF, etc only deliver twice before holding it at the depot I belive
