Dell Inspiron 1501 CPU problem

Afternoon guys.

I have recently acquired a dell inspiron 1501. it currently has the Turion 64 Mobile mk-36 cpu in it. I bought a Turion 64 X2 TMDTL58HAX5DC to upgrade too. I noticed other dell inspirons use turions x2 so i presumed their was no problem. When i installed the new processor and pressing the power button. The fan runs and the green light on the motherboard turns on, but the screen is still black. When i put the other processor back in, it boots up fine and screen works. I have tried several times and each time is the same.

Any ideas. Both are socket s1

Install the latest BIOS.

sorry forgot to mention bios 2.6.3 is all ready installed

Odd, looking on google etc.. it seems they do come with that cpu. Was it new or auction site? Might be DOA. Could also be a different board revision that supports the cpu (does happen sometimes).

Got the CPU from ebay, i did email the guy and he said cpus are tested before dispatch but obviously the odd bad one does get past.
