I have a 2 and a half year old DELL Inspiron 6400 which recently has decided to randomly freeze in windows XP, or it sends out a "Memory Parity Error." Now the obvious thing to try is putting the old 1GB memory back in and see if it still happens, the program that is mostly running when it happens is Steam Chat, and this is not true for the Windows 7 beta (and Vista). Windows 7 stays running as sweet as a nut. Why? It is a good OS, but I'd like XP to run aswell as 7 is a beta which'll run out eventually and generates heat from the gpu.
System Info:
DELL Inspiron 6400
Intel T2250 1.73Ghz Dual Core Centrino Duo CPU
2GB Memory (Came with 1GB)
320GB Fujitsu Hard Drive
ATI X1400 GPU 128MB Dedicated and 128mb shared.
Just incase the specs help someone. I've tried the obvious such as redownloading and resetting the BIOS, reformatting the hard drive etc...
