Hi
I have a Dell Inspirion 15 N5030 laptop that i got in 2010.
I have never been able to get a wifi connection upstairs in my house when using a wireless connection, even though ipads and kindles get a reception upstairs alright.
So i thought if i updated the wireless card with a more modern card it would improve the wireless range of my laptop.
After reading online about updating the hardware, it didn't seem too hard to do, and seeing that there isn't too many Wireless Lan Adaptors to choose from, i didn't think there would be an issue with compatability.
Was i wrong to make this assumption?
The laptop came with a Atheros AR9285 802.11 b/g/h wifi adaptor, which i replaced with a Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 wireless adaptor.
But after installing the new wifi adaptor the laptops wifi is not working, but i can still connect the laptop to the internet using an ethernet cable.
I have downloaded and installed Intel's drivers for the wifi adaptor after searching Intel's site for drivers: BT_17.0.1405.02_s64 and i also installed Dells Ethernet driver: R274725 but still no use.
Have i installed an incompatable wifi adaptor to my laptop, which wifi adaptor would work with my laptop and improve it's wireless range, or am i just stuck with the wifi adaptor that came with the laptop?
In Device Manager, the Network Adaptor; Atheros AR8152 PCI-E Ethernet Controller is installed fine.
There is a couple of other bluetooth devices installed in that folder alright.
It is in Other Devices that there is no Network Controller drivers installed.
When i tried to update the drivers my laptop says it can't find any.
That is why i downloaded the drivers above and installed them too see if it would get the wifi working, but it hasn't.
