dell losing the plot

Erm...

I really dislike Dell a lot (for many, many reasons), but lost the plot? Have you seen their current cases?! This is definatly better. Its coated in plastic (ugh), but its a hell of a lot better than the awful plastic ex-server xps boxes they have now. These do have a 'design' to them and they've given it more though then 'Oh - why don't we use an old workstation case and attach a blue LED or two?'

Seems like they have thought of the user with a case that uses light to illiuminate the I/O and is slanted to allow access. Also, if those panels open like a normal case and not like Dell's scissor design, then that's better.

Still plastic boxes, yes, but an improvement. This case has more taste than most gamer cases. I mean, come on, you wernt expecting Dell to use Lian-Li's now were you? They have huge profit margins to consider. ;)

made with 2.5mm thick alluminium, the sides are not plastic

I dont think anyone said they were, I did say that it was 'coated' in plastic though, as is the typical style with Dells, by which I mean lots of plastic.

I just wonder though why people think these cases are worse than Dell's current stuff, or how this indicates they are going down hill?! If anything, I'd say this is a clear sign Dell are listening to the market and learning from companies they own, such as Alienware.

Do not look to bad, improvement on the current gen for sure.

The laptop in blue has caught my eye, need a new one but I just know it is not going to be a ultraportable with 5 hour battery life. :(

Wrong, looks like the back is plastic also.
Knew you would say that... it looks part plastic. Who cares? It makes it lighter and nobody sees the back. Plus... who would honestly buy a dell for the case? (or at all for that matter)

You would to save the hassle you may percieve is involved in building your own system, as long as the case holds the system safely, without to much noise and with good reliability then the Dell case is perfect for its intended purpose.

You would not buy the case on its own, but when bundled as a whole package why not, looks much nicer than a lot of the gaming cases out there currently, would have one over a Vento if I was buying.

Wow those are really weird, i know style is just a matter of opinion etc.. but to me those look really dated already. Like some kind of electric heater from the mid 80's or something lol.
