Dell messed up

The nearest I've had happening to this was during an eBay spending spree last year. I had a set of 5 model aeroplanes mysteriously arrive in my post. The address label had the eBay logo so it was obviously from one of my sellers. However, it was in addition to what I've already bought and had no connection items-wise with my other items. There was no "return-to" address label, no invoice, no eBay ID. Plus, because I bought from numerous sellers in a short space of time, there was no way of knowing who sent it, and thus I couldn't contact them about their error. To play safe, I waited a month, had no contact, so I just flogged the aeroplanes back on the 'Bay. Got about £25 for it.

The issue is that even had I kept it, Dell would still be trying to charge me twice for a single laptop as they had no idea I have two.

That is why I'm so angry, today when I explained this to the Manager I spoke to, she didn't even say thank-you, just matter of factly stated that a courier will pick it up later today then continued to state that my account was due, even though I had already paid the darned thing.

AAARGH, I'm a little miffed to say the least and will be using my extensive vocabulary to convey that to the UK operation director in due course.

Extensive = 4 letters? :p

Sorry to hear of the hassle, I think you're right though and it's probably incompetence unrelated to you reporting the extra laptop.

I have a whole range of incredibly long winded ways of stating what 4 letters would convey, but without the stigma attached to profanity.:)

The good thing about my position professionally is that as the chap responsible for whether we continue to use Dell as a company or not, I have access to people who can do something about my concerns.

And Yes, I expect the two are unrelated.

I know about your sesquipedalian tendencies, I'm only jesting. :)

But as someone who has influence on the buying decisions of your company it's a rather handy position to be in, companies are much more likely to be willing to help if you can hit them in the wallet so to speak. Good luck getting it sorted.

Definitely would have kept it. They were obviously completely clueless about you having a second one, and as you said: No thanks whatsoever for your personal integrity, morels or honesty.

Things have a strange way of catching up with you in the end.

I once bought an art picture and paid the deposit and got it delivered and realized a couple of months later that they never charged my credit card for the rest of the amount. Fast forward five years and I got a phone call from the same shop asking me for payment. I told them I had paid for it and they could'nt prove I did'nt.

I would contact them and tell what has happenend. What goes around, comes around!!

Always a good idea to be honest.

Well, the promised courier hasn't shown up.

No communication from the account manager either.

Looks like I will be calling the Ops Dir on Monday morning.

I'd include a small invoice for time wasted or did they state it would be an 'anytime of day' service?

either way you are trying to do them a favour and they still can't help themselves

laughable :D

I have to say well done for your honesty, I mean yes its more hassle but it will make you feel good at the end of the day/week/month/if they ever pick it up.
