Dell Monitors - which one should i get (for gaming)?!

OP here again,

Thanks again for all the extra comments. Still feeling very undecided!

I keep feeling strangely compelled to the Dell U2410...not that there is much point though since i wont be able to get it for any less than £380 or so.

PCM2, i've been reading into that Samsung you mentioned, including your own review. I must say it looks extremely impressive, massive size, 1080p, incredible specs, lovely design, all the ports i want etc. Only thing missing is the VESA mount but i can live with that! Its £300 at most places but seen it as cheap as £240. Would you consider this a recommended purchase for that price?

One of the reviews i read said its main TN rival was the Dell GD2410? I had been considering the Dell SP2309 also but for a few extra quid the Samsung seems to be much superior. The XL2370 is looking like a major contender, especially if i know you've had first hand experience to vouch for it (i live in an odd location and there are no big electronics retailers round here to find these for myself, so i need to rely more on the personal experience of you guys!) It seems like a total waste to consider the extra £150 - £200 extra for the Dell U2410 over this thing. Question is whether its really £70 better than the BenQ...

Thanks again - i'm getting close to making a decision now!

I honestly can't recommend the XL2370 highly enough for gaming and movies. I'm glad you've read my XL2370 'mini review'. As I'm sure you know the XL2370 're-review' I'm currently working on goes into a lot more detail, but the bottom line is that it's a fantastic panel for what you need it for. I have used a number of IPS panels, PVA panels and even some early OLED prototypes.

Now I can't say that the viewing angles are fantastic and that colours can be trusted for professional work, but I can say it's the best TN panel I've ever come across (so far) and that the overall image quality really is special. I really should review the BenQ some time but they aren't being too forthcoming with providing a review sample :(.

As others have said, a very good TN panel will suit your needs, and I'm sure you'll be happy with one. As Rroff has said, if you get an IPS panel it might have input lag, and be bad for gaming. However, in my experience, my 2007WFP has been a great IPS panel and it's shown no problems for gaming.

Thats the problem with IPS and other non-TN types - there are some that are great for gaming but you have to really test them for yourself before buying.
