having just bought a geforce 770 to do some 3d cad and uni work on, i realised most of the inputs are digital, whilst my 2 old outdated 19" sqaure monitors are both vga.
my new card supports the following:
One Dual Link DVI-I, One Dual Link DVI-D, One HDMI, One DisplayPort
i started looking into a couple of new 21.5" DVI monitors with a price range of around £150 total. I couldnt find much on OCUK and I found a lot of selections with very few good reviews across the internet and mnaged to narrow it down to an Acer G226HQLHBD as it got good reviews and seemed to be a good all rounder.
no competitor talk or links please!
problems happened to the retailer with failed delivery, poor customer service, and a false advertisement of 5ms response time when its really 8ms so i boycotted the place and decided to head back here to the forums to start again from square one.
reading a lot of the forum posts it seems people are intrested in one monitor, rather than two so ive decided to keep one of my old 19" monitors for use for reading stuff and just purchase a new 24" one for around 150-200 at a push for my main screen.
again ive narrowed it down to a few. I see dell seems to be the king of monitors, and my dad has 2 dell ips monitors he uses for his canvas printing hobby so it seems logical to go with dell.
i'm looking at both the U2412M and the U2414H, and was intentially intrested more in the 12m as its had best reviews for 3 years on the trot, but reading a post on another thread by Baddass its kinda swayed me more towards the 14h using my displayport on my card
im usually a price says a lot for a product kinda guy, so why is it that the 12m is still more than the 14h even though the 14h is newer?
im leaning more towards the 14h due to the price, but is that extra 10% more resolution going to be noticeable and worth an extra £20 for the 12m? I dont need HDMI ports as my tv will be taking up my hdmi port on my card, so should i go with the 12m?
is there any other monitors out there that would be better fort this price range? do i need to buy something like the dell or would a 150 monitor do me fine for what i need (autodesk inventor)

in the 24" space i'd thoroughly recommend the Dell U2414H or Dell U2415 depending on whether you want a 16:9 or 16:10 format screen. both excellent all round screens, good default setup and performance, and about as good as you can get from current IPS-type panels for gaming and lag. both a lot better than the old U2412M by the way![]()
