I ordered a new Dell 2407WFP on DOTW earlier today to be delivered monday, and I have just spotted that the Benq is on offer too!

I was under the impression that the Benq is slightly better, is that correct?

Which is the better monitor, as they are nearly the same price, and could I contact OCUk to ask them to change my order?

Thanks

They are both good but the BenQ is slightly better. If you like the look of the BenQ screen go for it.

What do you think of the LG one:

Yea that looks rather shatpank as well doesn't it!

Goodness, all these screens... how do you choose!

Well, the LG is a bit more pricey, but I suppose you get what you pay for. Is it a more modern panel in the LG?

I read a review of the Benq a while back and it was full of praise for the monitor, so that kind of swayed me, but then the Dell has a huge fanbase on these boards so it looks like that would be fine too. I like the idea of an HDMI input on the Benq though.

Can I ring them tomorrow to change the order? After I've decided? :o

Thanks for posting :)

Hi there

Not got a clue on the LG sorry, I am sure Badass would know.

Hey hp01jpc both the BenQ monitor and the LG monitor use the same panel, The MVA Panel.

You can read more info about it Here

Cant seem to find which Panel the Dell 2407 uses though?

Im just deciding on Looks now, its between the Dell and the LG, not sure which would look the best?

Is it aesthetics that puts you off the Benq? I must say the Dell and LG do look a bit nicer, but if the Benq gives a better picture then I wouldn't mind so much.

If an when Baddass does come in here... perhaps he could say which of the three he would buy ;)

The 2407 should be S-IPS panel.

Ok cheers Gibbo.

Badass we need your assistance please. :p :D

Do you know what kind of Panel the LG uses and is it any good?

i sure do :) The LG L245WP is using AU Optronics' 8ms G2G P-MVA panel (the M240UW01 V0) which is also used in the BenQ FP241W. While the panel is the same, remember electronics etc can vary but they are going to be pretty comparable in performance really. The Dell 2407WFP on the other hand uses a 6ms S-PVA panel from Samsung (the LTM240M2). (note: for reference you can search for different models in the database here if you ever need to know what panel a screen uses :) http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/)

The Dell has always been very popular due to its great functionality, features, connectivity options and is well priced. It really is a very good screen. The BenQ is nice too, but only really offers an HDMI input that the Dell doesnt, and so not many have justified the added price. The LG is good too, but Dell seems to be favoured by most and is certainly well established. I think if it were me i would buy the Dell, reliable screens, good support, nice design and great functionality. Maybe let the look of the screen play a key part in your decision here, i think it's important and may help you seperate these models which are all very good really.

hi baddass

i def second that, as you know i had both, the dell is def value for money and tbh honest that extra £100 which was £200 for me at the time does not justify the hdmi and the difference in quality between the two, if anything the benq has given me more problems from the day i had it and went through THREE before i gave it up and got a dell instead and never looked back and i was £200 richer :)

@hp01jpc

just to let you know i got 2, one for me and one is bnew listed in the MM.

well, extra £12.
i do a lot of photoshop work and the reports of banding on the dells have put me off.
i will also be getting a ps3 when gta4 comes out so the hdmi will be used.

ohh damn that not much of a difference, i havent checked the prices for the benq for a while and ps3 well hdmi probably is best for you, for banding otherwise i really couldnt notice any from all the four i had with dell tbh.

I am only really going to be using the screen for general PC work and gaming.

I wouldn't mind a hi def console at some stage, but I will probably get a actual HD TV for that purpose, so I guess the HDMI won't really be needed.

It was actually shipped on Friday evening, so I can't really change my order now anyways :)

It's ok though, I slightly prefer the aesthetics of the Dell and as Baddass said, they all perform pretty closely, so I should be fine :o

Hey guys, everyone that has a Dell, whats the Build Quality like of it?

The LG seems looks very solid and at the moment i just cant decide between the two? :(

I like the LG because its all in black and its got a nice glossy base that will fit in with my Glossy Speakers, Glossy Keyboard and Glossy Mouse. :D

I also like the way that the Dell looks but i dont know if that silver stand will muck up the appearance of my desk?

Yes i know fussy lol.
