Hi my g/f works for a charity, and they have a company which maintains their network of 5 pc's!!

Pc went wrong on the network, and the guys took the pc away and rebuilt (aka I think they just wiped the hard drive and reinstalled software) and then debuged as duff memory and replaced the 512 DDR with Dell "supposibly" because only dell memory is compatible with the P4 pc's 74 quid later for 1 512 DDR module.

Question being, I cannot see only Dell memory being compatible, and surely not even being faulty.

You can use any ram in a dell right? I have 1GB spare and want to upgrade one of them for free, as well as expose these dudes as frauds.

Comments welcome.

Cheers

they could be right, i think some of the older dells needed "special" memory.

But if the computer was booting fine in the first place i wouldnt think it was the RAm anyway?

they are 4 years old Pentium 4, sorry g/f is clueless! I would just hate for them to be ripped off, especially for a charity.

Thx for all your help
