Hello every one last year i bought a dell Precision Mobile work station , I love it it quiet , and enrgy efficient and so on , but i want to upgrade the GPU thats in it from a Quadro FX2700 , i saw that you can get reconditioned ATI HD5870 for them which is alltogether much better GPU , the package is identical with the heatsink same shape e.c.t and came from an M6400 .

So is it compatable or has there been changes to the Dell precision M6400 , with regards to the motherboard and chipset ?

i cant think of any reason why you couldnt get the graphics card in there, however, the PSU might not be up to the job.

do you know what make/model PSU you have in there?

*edit*
only just noticed the dell precision is a laptop, so not only could power be a problem, but space might be as well

Ok .. checked the power supply.. its 150w /19.5v @ 7.7 A . Checked the GPU it draws 60w max so should be good to go .
