I have a rather expensive dell monitor, now I have 3 year premium panel warranty, this is the second one ive had in 1.3 years. I called Dell told them about it and they said they'll send out a refurnished monitor, I been arguing with them they should send me a new monitor, but they refuse and are willing to send we out a refurnised monitor and they will not extend my warranty.

Now can I argue that these monitors are not fit for purpose with my credit card holders? as this is a second monitor, now they are unwilling to fix it but are willing to give me a refurnished monitor, told them if they did that i'd expect 3 more years warranty on my monitor but they refused.

suggestions please.

A refurbished one is really no different to having your current one repaired anyway. If anything, it's better because at least you're not having to wait weeks for the repair.

Dell monitor rant never again

i had a monitor fail and the manufacturer wanted to do the same thing, i got them to fix my monitor and send me the same one back.

I think you'd struggle to get anywhere with your CC, at the end of the day they are offering to fix your problem, just not how you want them to.

If they took back your monitor and repaired it, then you'd have a used, but refurbished monitor. They are offering to send you a refurbished monitor instead, so you're no worse off? They will never extend the warranty, otherwise it would be open to abuse where a monitor 'broke' just inside of its warranty and got replaced forever. They should honour it to the end of the original 3 years and no more.

Bad luck to have 2 die in that time frame though, I've got an old 17" dell that must be 8 years old!

As long as the refurbished monitor is in as good condition as your one I don't see an issue. If it isn't when it arrives then get them to swap it again.

Also I don't see why they should extend the warranty. You are guaranteed a working monitor for three years and that is what you will get, however many times they need to replace it.

ive got an aw2310, it failed after around 8 months and i kicked up a fuss wanting a brand new screen but they wouldnt do it, they said they only replaced for new if it was in its first few weeks of use
the screen they sent me looked brand new though, not a mark on it

I went through the same thing a couple years back, but the good thing about Dell is sometimes they forget to collect so now I have 2 monitors.

Not in a bad way, overly sensitive on off switch is all :D

The one I sent back was broken, they shifted me the refurb under warranty but the switch was dodgy, they sent me another and never collected.

It's not OK that in your mind Dell can send you a refurbished monitor which will probably be in as new condition but it's OK for you to screw them out of a monitor (albeit broken but could be refurbished to an as new condition).

I hate modern society.

You forget that he is entitled to some kind of premium replacement service because he paid the price of the monitor!

They screwed me, why pay extra for a service that I'm not getting, the 2nd most expensive monitor they sell, paid extra for a premium service that i'm not getting.
Either send me out a new one and dont extend my warranty, or send me out refurbished and extend my warranty, its no to both.

How have they screwed you?

Which premium service aren't you getting?

You seem to have misunderstood the Dell Premium Panel Guarantee. It doesn't say that any replacement will a new monitor.

They've offered you a refurbished monitor and you have the remainder of the 3 year warranty.

You'll be in the same position you're in now, no better and no worse.

You didn't pay for a premium service. You paid the extra for the high end product and to have that high end product guaranteed functional for three years. After they have sent you the replacement you will still have the high end product and it will still be guaranteed to be functional 3 years from date of purchase.

If your car broke would you expect them to give you a brand new one, or repair the current one?

What an entitlement complex, lawdy lawd. If it's clean, and in pristine condition, what does it matter whether it's new or not? You are receiving a fully functional replacement.
