Dell S2716DG alternative?

It's in the pdf manual on the cd that came with the monitor....where do I look on the monitor and I will see if it's on there when I get home from work tonight

....and I can not say the name of the supplier but it is a well known high Street chain ;)

I am looking to get the dell monitor but now wondering if I should not try an ultrawide ? I wanted one main monitor for gaming and one to read stuff on while I game.
I was thinking of pairing the dell with a cheap 27" 1440 would it be better to use the budget (around £800) to get one UW ?

@Griff7520

I don't have the monitor so I don't know where to look for the revision in the back of the monitor but I guess you got it figured out :) So it's still A04. That's weird, it says A05 in your manual. Can you take a screenshot of where it says that?

Haha, dafty ! You almost set the internet on alert with that rev A05.

Let me know how you get on with the settings, I'm really toying with the idea of getting this Dell but keep being put off by others that have came from an IPS to this Dell TN.

never owned an ips but I have gone from a Asus VG278HE to this and if I am honest I have no better performance with this than the old one. I have exactly the same fps in my games as before and cant see any difference except for the higher resolution which is a bit better off course. I have got the colour much better after seeing other peoples settings. The problem I had at boot with a couple of pixels showing has now disappeared so all good there. Everything else with the monitor is spot on now. It is a nice looking monitor but I think I have wasted £520 really as the asus was fine for me. I think a better upgrade for me would have been a bigger screen if I am honest. But still I got it now so all is good.

I wasn't expecting more but I think I misunderstood what gsync does. I thought it kept the fps at 144 fps but it doesn't...it still goes up and down a bit as before so to me I can not see any difference in that ...just the higher res which I suppose is the upgrade for me... I think if you have a high end pc anyway then gsync does not bring much to the table...so it is just me not understanding how this tec works,....I like to build computers but it don't make me an expert on all the other stuff lol..if you know what I mean

In very basic terms, G-Sync, when used with a compatible Nvidia GPU, synchronises the refresh rate of your monitor with whatever FPS your GPU is outputting.
so basically if my gpu can only do 80 fps at best then gsync will make the monitor do 80 fps in line with the gpu...is that correct

so if the GPU is outputting at 60Hz and the monitor is 120Hz the monitor isn't waiting (1/120 * 2) seconds for the screen to refresh, the monitor always redraws the picture whenever the graphics card outputs another. This has the advantage of smoothing out the picture as you don't get tearing.

More or less, although technically the monitor operates in hertz rather than FPS.

Basic video here. Lots more on YouTube that explain it better/in more depth, but I didn't want to subject you to an annoying YouTube personality!
