Does anyone else get a severe dose of diarrhoea when it comes to ringing these people up? In the past ive had to rma a monitor and that was an experience of massive frustration. now my 2407 has developed the spinny power button of death which is annoying so im trying to get a replacement sorted.

It would honestly be easier climbing everest in the nip with a gimp tied to my back.

If you don't have the service tag (seems to be some sort of mythical thing since ive had 3 dell monitors and not one has had a service tag) these people havn't a clue. Every time i get put through i get through to a guy who can barely speak english, this service tag seems to be some sort of deity to the tech support people, even giving them the serial number isn't good enough, they NEED this damn service tag.

Just spent 20 minutes reading out a serial number time after time after time to be told that it wasn't valid. The number on the box corrosponds to the one on the monitor but to these people it simply doesn't exist.

Funny thing is ive noticed they seem to be very quick at recognising a serial number when the monitor is out of warranty, when it is in warranty the "me no speaky engrish" card seems to be played and the serial isn't on the system.

Dell's call centre staff are awful. It took me and my father ten minutes of screaming our postcode down the phone to get the guy to understand what it was.

rofl theyre trying to make you hang up from the looks of it. whats the Tranisiton number ;D

Ins't there a webform you need to fill in on their site that gives you all the RMA details you need when you call them? Or am I thinking of someone else?

can you doucle check it as it does not register - the 5 chars after mx0 are your part number and even that is not recognised. double check that serial number.

Thats what it has on the back and on the box, they told me that if it wasn't bought from dell directly it wouldn't show on their system for whatever reason.

thats no right matey. as long as you have an order number, customer number or serial number the monitor can be booked for replacement by Dell. And thats regardless of where you bought it.

I dunno whats going on then, everytime i call i get put through to india, only time ive ever had any luck is with someone in the uk. Just have to keep calling i suppose.

Is it possible that the 0 are actually the letter o?

I've just had to go through a similar process to RMA an 18 month old 2408WFP bought from OCUK.

Make sure when you ring the Dell support number that you ask to be put through to the 'Monitor Warranty Department'. Once I did this I actually got to speak to someone helpful. Gave them my serial number and they arranged for a replacement panel to be sent out next day.

Tahts the problem though, they keep saying the serial is invalid =/ I can only assume im mixing up zero with the letter o.

Gerard the format of the SN is always as follows:

AB-0-CDEFG-HIJKL-MNO-PQRS

AB = Country of manufacture
CDEFG = Part Number (Used by Dell)
H to S = Date of Manufacture

Also there is no letter 'O' in the SN only 0s.

Don't understand why its not recognised then, ive checked it a few times both on the panel and on the box.

heres a pic of the serial

On my 2209Wa there is a pull out flap on the left hand side that has the service tag on it. Does your monitor have a similar thing.
