Dell U2311h

Was considering one of these for a while, but then thought what the hell, lets splash out a bit, so bought two!

(Loving portrait mode :p)

I'll confirm there is a colour shift when viewing from left/right, and a slight gradient (Warm on the left, cool on the right) however these only seem to show up on dull/dark colours, and the only time I've noticed it is when looking for it.

This is my first venture into IPS panels and I have to say I'm loving it so far. The colours are very nice (Using the .icc profile from TFT Central and altered brightness/contrast and RGB values until colours looked natural from photographs). Replaying the first few Crysis levels really brought the forest to life (Albeit with Real-lifesis mod, although I had that before on the TN panel and it wasn't as beautiful.)

I've used the screen for some Photoshop work (Warm/cool tint didn't affect it that much,) text reading (Everything is lovely and sharp,) picture viewing (brought them to life in my eyes) and gaming (No noticeable lag or ghosting coming from a Samsung T240 TN Panel.)

So to summarize; Are there issues? Yes. Are they deal breakers? Considering the price of the monitor, not at all! Is this a great monitor for someone making the initial venture to IPS on a budget? (Imo) Yes. Can the screen be used for FPS gaming? As long as you're not a lulwut pro yes.

Hope this helps someone :)

Edit: Not got the best camera atm but hope these will do. Brightness is at 55.

Pure Black Screen (Very little backlight bleed)

Pure White Screen (Is pure white, just the aforementioned camera is not the best)

Did some gradient ones and the monitors were fine, however the camera made the gradients look like they were banding =/. Will hopefully borrow the GFs DSLR soon so I can get better pics if anyone wants them.
