Dell U2410 issues

Hi all,

I'm hoping for some advise. I received my brand spanking new Dell U2410 this past Friday. Unfortunately when I switched it on for the first time I noticed what appeared to be some sort of odd hazing on the screen (I can't think of another term). At first I thought it was really bad back-lighting, but it appears to move when I shift position in front of the screen. It almost acts like a strong reflection, but isn't. It's sitting next to my other Dell 2408WFP which appears almost solid black, even when viewed at an angle (with the exception of some minor back-lighting bleed). I've attached a couple of photos.

I didn't buy this from Overclockers but from Amazon. Do you think this is normal or should I return it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah I'll give it a few days and then possibly contact Amazon. When I'm working it's okay, but looking an empty black screen, or one with a dark wallpaper, is when I really notice it. Pity, as my 2408WFP is beautiful.

100% completely normal. My U2410 and all 3 of my U2311H's do the same thing. You get used to it but it does somewhat negate the benefits of decent viewing angles if truth be told.

Hi Mindrot,

Just got my Dell U2410 on Friday too, and I get some of the same but no-where as bad as your pics suggest, however, I am having a different issue, can you, or anyone else that has this screen advise if you see the same, I'll post a copy of my thread in the OCUK CS forum:

Hi guys,

Had my new dell u2410 delivered yesterday and for the most part its great but theres a big problem.

Running through the centre of the screen (about 25-33%s worth of the total screen) is a nasty yellowing, especially noticeable on white or light coloured screens (its even noticeable on the forum pages, and I have the dark black/grey firefox forum mod). It also runs along the bottom of the screen, from left to right, about an inch high from the base upwards.

The other parts of the screen seem fine, whites looking pure white etc, and I've also sat off centre to see if its a viewing angle problem, but it still remains yellow, and the rest still white etc no matter where I view it from.

I've even asked my wife to check it out, just in case its me that's faulty, but she notices it too.

Please can you advise and sort this out, as its driving me nuts.

Thanks. It's a shame as it's a lovely monitor :(

@Space Monkey: I cant say I have this problem. Though my wife's older 2405FPW has acquired some yellow on the edges over the past year, but then again that's an old monitor we purchased about 6 years ago. I think it has something to do with the back lighting. Probably be best for you to send it back :(

I'm afraid both of you guys are a bit late to the party. There is a reson the U2410 thread is so massive :(

I'm lost? what do you mean - I have 3 x U2410's in portrait and not a single problem :D

... It's one of those subjective things I guess.

@ Mindrot,

Thanks, and yeah it was my 1st impression too, and I'm torn between asking Dell for a 'new' new one and OCUK exchanging it or refunding it, and looking for another model screen?

@ Alfie,

lol, anyways I'd thought most issues were dealt with, mines the latest A09 revision, I'm guessing I've just got a lemon I suspect?
