Currently own a Dell 2405FPW: 24 inch, 16:10, 1920 x 1200. Want a new 24/25 Dell monitor for software development. Thinking of dual monitors.

I've found two other 16:10 monitors:

P2421 and U2415

I can see lots of glowing reviews for the U2415 but not much on the P2421.

Would P2421 be better as it's 6 years newer/anyone know about it?

Personally I would go for the P2421 unless I specifically needed an Ultrasharp, the difference between the model lines lies mainly in features/connectivity and warranty (many U/P models of the same year use the same actual panel).

Basically the two main differences of the Productivity and Ultrasharp lines are in warranty (Ultrasharp warranty is better for dead pixels) and connectivity, normally an Ultrasharp will have better connectivity than a Productivity and in 2015 it did, however due to the six years that passed between designs the gap isn't as wide anymore.

U2415: DisplayPort, Mini DisplayPort, 2x HDMI, 5x USB 3.0, DisplayPort output (for daisy chaining displays), Audio output, Dell Soundbar connection.

P2421: DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI, VGA, 2x USB 2.0, 2x USB 3.0.

It should be noted that both monitors are DisplayPort 1.2, if you want 1.4 you will need a newer U series.
