Just taken delivery of a Dell XPS15 from the Outlet.
All looked well as I set it all up... until I tried to play a video in VLC: tearing, corruption, and then it froze for a bit and I got a message that the Nvidia driver has stopped working and recovered. This happens in Media Player too.
Videos run fine, though, if I select VLC to run using the Intel HD3000 IGP instead of the dedicated 525m.
Tried running RTHDRIBL on the GT525m, and it stutters at 1.2FPS for a second or two, freezes, stutters along again, and then stops responding and the driver error message appears again.
Seems to have the latest drivers, and I understand you have to make sure to install only the manufacturer's own drivers on laptops?
Thinking this one has a defective GPU. Any other things I might do to confirm/test/solve and possible save the huge hassle of a return and refund?
