I just made 1200 squid on selling my old kit. Problem is that paypal don't like that much money so need to make checks which may take up to 2 weeks!!! So impatiently I decided to go the OCUK finance route for my new build and was denied.

What are the reasons this normally happens? I've never had problems in the past.

I have applied for an experian credit report but now I hear they will charge money. I thought it was free! I knew I shouldn't have delved into this.

:(

You'd rather go on finance than wait 2 weeks? |:

Assuming that he'd pay off the debt when the money has cleared and only have to pay an admin fee for the setup of the finance should be ok, shouldn't it?

Don't worry Alfie, I got denied aswell for a few bits and bobs even though I pass credit checks all over the place

I'm confused, why don't Paypal like £1200 and need to check? After all, it's not like it's a great amount of money.

This ^

As for failing credit it could be for many reasons. Have you had any before? Have you got too much? Are you on the Electoral Register? Get your credit report (the one that costs a few quid not the stupid montly one) and find out.

OCUK cannot answer why on here.

I'm excited and I've found the right balance of this week only and stuff in stock. Never mind.

Does anyone have any experience with experian credit reports? They say it's free but I've heard they charge. How can I stop them from doing this?

Careful with the "free" reports... you have to cancel within 14 days or something or they auto charge you for a subscription and usually charge for 6 or 12 months upfront :( criminal I say... usually to cancel you have to phone up a number, which is buried away beneath the account details and takes several attempts and some queuing to get through to... at which point they will try everything to get you to carry on with the subscription so you have to be very firm and clear and keep repeating you want to cancel until they give up and do so.

Personally I haven't been stung by it but I know a few that have.

I was denied credit ages ago too even though I have no debts and haven't for years. However, I found out that my credit rating was poor because I don't borrow money enough and then pay it off. That's how you improve your credit rating.

So yes, you need credit to get credit.

oh ffs, I've had enough of that sort of thing this month. Is it really that bad? anyone had much experience?

I did the experian one once out of interest - even knowing in advance you had to cancel - it was still quite a bit of hassle and didn't actually tell me anything particularly useful anyhow.
